Psychotherapy for Individuals and Couples

Hi there, I’m Kellen.

A smiling young man with short dark hair and facial hair, wearing a checkered shirt, stands outdoors in front of a tree with green leaves. The background is blurred, showing a park-like setting with grass and trees.

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist working in the San Francisco Bay Area. I am currently seeing individuals and couples. In addition to traditional therapy, I also offer ecotherapy.

My own journey of stepping into my authentic expression has underscored my passion to support others as you reconnect with your truest self. I began my career working for a community-based organization providing support, education, and advocacy for those affected by mental health struggles and suicide. I then went on to spend six years providing crisis intervention and services before transitioning to providing therapy at an LGBTQ+ community clinic. I look forward to being a fellow traveler as we walk together on your unique path toward relief, balance, and self-discovery.

I have a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from the Wright Institute.

I currently reside in San Francisco but can provide telehealth to anyone in California. I also offer in-person sessions, either in my office or in nature.

It is my privilege and honor to do this work.

My Approach

I am passionate about attuning to and embracing all parts of the self and exploring the fullness of your identity, expression, and experience, with the therapeutic relationship being at the heart of our work together. My practice intends to create a space of safety, depth, curiosity, and embodied ease during this collaborative process between you and I as we explore and move through complex emotions and experiences toward your goals.

My style is curious, playful, and direct, while you and I use the therapeutic relationship as a laboratory within which to facilitate the meaningful changes that will reconnect you with yourself, with life, and with the people around you. Although my training and experience have led me to specialize in certain areas, I draw on the most effective combination of clinically researched techniques and practices depending on your individual needs.

Depending on your needs, I can meet with you individually or with you and your partner(s). Depending on your needs I can meet with you individually, with you and your partner(s), or with your child.

Services

Individual Therapy for Adults and Teens

I work with individuals dealing with life challenges such as anxiety, depression, shame, gender dysphoria, trauma, and issues with self-esteem. While I work with clients who hold a wide variety of identities within the queer community, I am particularly interested in working with trans and gender non-conforming adults and adolescents.

Couples Therapy

(or relationship therapy) can include a range of relationship constellations such as couples, partners, dyads, friends, and family members.

I specialize in working with partners involved in polyamorous and non-monogamous relationships. I approach therapy with a sex-positive, kink-aware, and poly-friendly perspective, ensuring that clients feel supported and understood in all aspects of their identities and relationships.

Family Therapy

Families often want to support one another but can find themselves feeling overwhelmed by change, uncertainty, or patterns of communication that no longer work. With over eight years of experience working with families across crisis services, family reintegration, and private practice, I help families navigate life's transitions with greater understanding, connection, and compassion.

I specialize in working with LGBTQ+ individuals and their families, particularly during periods of gender exploration, transition, and coming out. Whether you are a parent seeking to better support your child, a young person hoping to strengthen family relationships, or a family working to rebuild trust and communication, therapy can provide a space where everyone's experiences are heard without requiring you to educate your therapist.

My approach is trauma-informed, relational, and affirming, helping families move beyond conflict and fear toward deeper connection while honoring each person's identity, autonomy, and lived experience.

Fees

Fee setting will be a part of our initial consultation. I have a limited number of sliding scale openings. You’re welcome to contact me to discuss sliding scale availability.

I currently do not take insurance, but for those with out-of-network coverage I can provide a superbill to submit to insurance providers for reimbursement.

For local sliding scale resources, I recommend Queer Life Space, the Pacific Center for Human Growth, and the Liberation Institute.
